Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru :01-02: Bishoujo Kingdom

Posted by - October 20, 06

A young man (yes that’s a male) embarks on his journey into the land of bishoujo, but alas, the young man must pretend to be a bishoujo himself, and sadly, he makes a fine bishoujo. Traps abound. I quite glad a sub group picked this up, because with everything else I’m currently watching or trying to catch up on, I probably wouldn’t have checked out the raws for Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru. Lucky! I partially knew what to expect out of this, but from left field, I was struck with the force of 1000 bishous, and it felt goood!

NHKにようこそ! :05-08: Angel

NHK batch once more! Out of this bunch, episode 7 didn’t impress me as much as the others. I’ve heard some attacks on visuals as well, which sure they can be a bit rough in NHK, but it really hasn’t detracted from the enjoyment for me. (consider Noein did have some strange looking characters at times as well) Anyway.

Tokimeki Memorial: Only Love! :01: Exciting Indeed

Posted by - October 16, 06

The title for the first episode was ‘An Exciting Meeting’ and this is the most fitting title possible for the first episode of Tokimeki. While I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect from this series, I was thoroughly impressed and ultimately entertained. As for ‘the meeting’, I’m not quite sure who was meeting who, it was just insanity, fun insanity none the less (*thinks Jack Nickolson in One Flew Over*).

Asatte no Houkou :02: Sunsets

Refreshment time is over I’m afraid. Asatte no Houkou episode 02 didn’t bring me to tears or rub my emotional side deeply, but it does start develop the situation in a mature manner. After the first episode, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the story is moving towards a more serious looking drama with a very appealing setting. I have no beef with this series, it is doing very well.

Kanon :02: Relax

Posted by - October 14, 06

I’m definitely finding that I enjoy this show a good deal. The scent of AIR rings from it, and not simply because of the character design. I found AIR mysterious and enchanting because it always seems as it was all too normal (of course it wasn’t ‘normal’). Like AIR, Kanon puts off this mystical vibe, that something amazing could happen at any given moment, and though something amazing does happen everytime we see Ayu, I mean a different kind of amazing. I don’t actually know if the show has this fantasy aspect to it, and if it doesn’t I still would enjoy it; the characters are intriguing (except the porter).

Black Lagoon :01-12: Impressed!

Posted by - October 12, 06

Holy Shit I finished it! Well, seeing as Black Lagoon: Second Barrage (any resemblance to The Second Raid? lol) is on the agenda for FALL I really decided to finally sit down and check out Black Lagoon. My words: pretty damn amazing! This series is very strong, possibly entering into my top 10, which isn’t saying much since I haven’t seen that many anime. Also, this is my first real review of any anime. Usually, I just do reflective writings, but I wanted to give this thing justice and see where it ranks. note: all other reviews, if any, will not be adjusted relative to this first one. In the words of Marvin Gay…

NHKにようこそ! :02-04: vs manga

Posted by - October 11, 06

Diving in shallow water isn’t for the meek. Neither is being preyed upon by one Nakahara Misaki. Hey hey, I’m only kidding. She’s such a cute kid, and her persistance is quite amazing. So I’ve finished up the next couple volumes of NHK and ran through a few more episodes of the anime. I’ve found the draw; the difference, the substantial points that set these two mediums apart. We have the NHK manga, loaded with trippy confusion and comedy, and very low on the sentiment. Then there is the NHK anime, which takes on a cleanly planned plotline and romantic touch. True statements.

I’ve noticed the anime seems to have a slower pacing than the manga, which is accomplished by the spacing I spoke of before. I don’t think this negates the experience in anyway, but also the anime is accompaniened by a Satou character who seems more interested in Misaki, than his manga counter-part. I’ll assume this is to stress the relation between Satou and Misaki, and I’m not talking about the hikikomori-savior relationship. The manga usually doesn’t play to much into how Satou feels about Misaki, we know he finds her cute but he also has this exsquisite hate/fear attitude towards her. Even from the first episode this is seen when the charming bgm is playing while Misaki and Satou are standing on either side of the door (before Misaki left).Depending on where the next volumes go, I could be saying that the anime presents an entirely better lovey-dovey side to NHK, or not. The coin is tossed.
