For the season, ef has surpassed my expectations better than any other. It’s probably wrong heading into a series thinking, “This is going to fail, I’m gonna drop it.” I didn’t necessarily feel as so, because of SHAFT, heaven save them [ from themselves ], was the studio; I was willing to toss in the chips and my keys. Yet, my assumptions were invalid, and I love being wrong here.

Nekos
At first take, Sketchbook came off as the peaceful-cute, slice-of-life of Autumn, given, but halfway down the lovely path, Sketchbook is blooming other amusing, enjoyable aspects.

Yuzuki-sensei has a good sense about her.
I’ve rooted through the willy shakers, the perilous evils of the mind, and found my way to light! -_-,
One thing M;Y lacks is a strong story thread. I don’t want to be negative about it, but it makes the series more like a slice-of-life main dish, though it originally felt like the story would be progressive. The downfall to the way M;Y is presenting is that it just doesn’t connect the characters as strongly as say…. Kanon, where the connections between Yuuichi, et al. were built like a beach house on the Florida coast (for reference, that means very strong).

As Kana’s plots the greatness of episode 6…
It’s nice having solid subs.. Right!? Minami-ke has proved highly enjoyable through the half, and there is hardly anything I do not like about the series. The comedy is good, but it holds my interest even in the daily “struggles” and interaction among the 3 sisters (Haruka-Oneesama, Kana-chan, Chiaki-sama). The slice-of-life actually feels progressive because Minami-ke isn’t a laid back setup like say, Sketchbook; Minami house has spunk!

Minami-ke is such a fun series to watch, I’m still festive about watching episode 4 earlier this week. Well, I was browsing in my screen capture directory for an entry on Shugo Chara! and found some Minami-ke shots instead. It reminded me that the scene where Kana and Chiaki “battle” is such a clever play on their innocence which brought me some laughs.

Beyond the midpoint lies other characters. The beef of LS to episode 12/13 was Konata vs Kagami, with a mix of Tsukasa and Miyuki. Incoming characters…. this is brief. More…

Last bout of episodes seems very sparatic, but trying to be relevant.
We get to see an outrageous festival, with many kinds of yes and no explicit interfaces. Jeez, I really felt for Touka, like he’s the only one half-normal and surrounded by wackos, even though he’s quite brattish. The relationship phases of Touka and Momoka are interesting to see, but its been more implied indirectly. Episodes before the ceremony of the first episode [wtf] Touka and Momoka felt distant. Also, the sexual content/connotations of Touka Gettan are reaching great heights. Overly sexual? Its possible, but everything is so lush and taboo to truly complain.
I wasn’t over joyous after the last few episodes, some of the material seemed to be filler written up by the penmanship of one Yumiko; there’s a ton to say about this firecracker, I won’t say a thing. O_O
Anyway, it’s decent, but I’m looking for slightly stronger material to set off the reverse plotline. Keep it coming.
