Fire at the heart!There is just so much one can ask of a series, and the most hearty request I’d have to KimiKiss regards the airing quality. This is a meager issue. My score with KimiKiss is Kiss 1, me 0. Why? I feel bad leaving it out of my priorities, when I was definitely taking it in. I must attest to the good points I find in the series.
Similar to Myself;Yourself, but not as extensive, KimiKiss has diversity; relationship diversity. There are basically 3 piecewise Jacobian elliptical functions relationships brewing (”We’ll Brew Your Time!”). Mao X dark-sax Kai, Kouichi X Hoshino, and Kazuki X girl genius Futami-san [and possibly the soccer girl], but I’m doubtful if they will all work out for the better.
groupies…Mao’s growing intrigue and persistence towards Kai is revealing her unstable, and quite lonely self. Seriously, if there wasn’t Kai, who would it be. The character is plain lucky to have met one of the few 3rd years in the school that doesn’t want to prioritize entrance exams; and he’s a guy. It could be the “fate” thing happening, but more than likely, Mao is setting an example. I wish we could see her backstory more, like, what the hell was she doing in France. I bet she partying, that’s trendy, and Mao is trendy. Barback, sax playing bishi-man… trendy? I like Kai, but Mao is getting engrossed in his world. Seeing as I could go on, this is an interesting relation/character to watch.
they just need alone timeKouichi and Hoshino have a pretty cute, but bland, thing going on. It’s like watching 7 year olds play tag in slow motion ….. Now, you’re it! *smooch* They need to get on with the smooching, at least Kouichi seems a bit reserved and slightly chivalric when it comes to the females; gentleman. Of the three relationships, this one has the least happening, but its cool.
whatever you want… experiments…Kazuki and Futami. HMmmm, for me its bittersweet, because Kazuki is hormonal and staring down that Makoto path. My useless advice, “Don’t sell the jewels so fast!” I like Futami though, she’s a bit scary but its okay. The experiments are funny, but so far very little screen time has been given to the pair, but the recent experiment scene in episode 6 was nice. My guess, and it’s a wonderful one, is that Futami’s experiment is trying to fall in love. How much would it suck to not be able to fall in love? That’s worse than when I suspected she wasn’t really a genius at all …. totally shoved in my face when she topped the school exams with 800/800. Unbelievable.
So this is a decent watch. There is good focus and building, the character designs are different but very nice (I think its the hair), and it’s entertaining. Solid series to the halfway mark. Comparatively, I’ve not thought about where it stands with the rest of the season.

Oh goodness, no. This is on a much higher level than M;Y……Kimikiss is one of the much better selections of the season for me, as it has a familiar H&C or Nodame feel. Eriko is my favorite girl out of the bunch….and you’ll soon find out that her genius comes with a bit of oddity. xD
I agree KimiKiss > M;Y, 100% no doubts. I was marking similarity to M;Y for the variety; I see variety. It isn’t a multi-threaded plot, but it’s not singular either. With 3 couples to focus on it makes things more interesting. M;Y is like a half-assed KyoAni via Key series; many similar elements, but random and not that engaging.
KimiKiss familiar to H&C or Nodame… I can see that in a way. KimiKiss came with bonuses for me; I liked the character designs and it wasn’t a harem. That was plenty, but its better at this point because the series tugs and tumbles the heart, leaves room for intrigue, and the characters are developing quite well. Very good points.
Eriko is my fav as well!!! She’s A+
I wish Eriko became dere for Kazuki. But we have the soccer chick for him anyway, so who cares XD
It cannot obtain what H&C has, but it’s a good and solid offering of the season. I mean … I was deeply moved as early as the third episode of that series. With this series, I appreciate the occurrences, but …
