Not much better than Makoto…
I’m not going to finish School Days… okay that’s a lie. Most definitely, without a doubt, I despise School Days, and it’s beyond Makoto now.
Let me adjust myself, my frame of reference. I just finished the usual all-cold morning shower, but before I went in I took in an episode of School Days, which I’ve been reluctant to finish. Still, I am pushing, I just have to get rid of it.
So, in mid-summer I basically didn’t proceed with the series because I found Makoto offensive. I’ve never wished a character was real, so that I may descend the pain of an ass-kicking, but Makoto makes me wish, oh boy. Right, so he’s a total idiot, but now it’s beyond that. The driving point of School Days sucks, even though the tense atmosphere is gripping at the same time.
If you ask me, the entire story is driven by the fact that Makoto [or Sekai] do not have enough balls to confront Katsura with their affair. These characters are EVIL! Shit, at least let someone know that you’ve broken up. Katsura, who’s never been in a relationship cannot understand the message of a silent breakup.
Can we see how this is gripping? It’s obvious, but I’ve not been so discouraged at life since watching my real imouto-chan arguing with a reality tv show; my blood is offended. I’m not being so serious, but I truly consider that a poor driving factor. It’s like watching the movie Match Point. (I’ve nothing more to add to that sentence, unfortunately)
I’ll finish this series, by god, but these inconsistencies of communication … Sometimes, its important to ask what would Onizuka-sensei do?
I feel better now.

Don’t worry. What arrives with finishing School Days is a disgust that seems impossible to wash away. You simply see the nether regions of humanity in these characters. But wouldn’t you say that those characters you abhor got their just deserts?
Relax, we all hate Makoto.
Those feelings of irrepressible rage and horrific anger are perfectly normal and understandable responses to School Days. It shows you’re likely a decent human being. I’m sure all of us have fantasized about gruesomely murdering the characters of the show.
Fantasy Fest! Somehow I feel, that if and when I finish this, I’ll want to re-enact the scene from Ace Venture: Pet Detective where Ace realizes that Einhorne is a man. It’s on that level. ^^
