Lucky Star :: Subtle Stuff II

This guy is memorable.

I swear I didn’t realized I’d title another Lucky Star post ‘Subtle Stuff’. I don’t even know what that one was about, but coming off a good breakfast and a relaxing morning watch of Lucky Star 19, it really dawned on me, that the enjoyment of Lucky Star isn’t anything big, it really is the smaller details.

I don’t think anyone would say that the LS comedy is ‘to die for’, it isn’t that great, but its cute [ but not "falling all over myself" cute ].

kuroiSleeping Kuroi-sensei ^^
konaWe all knew what was coming…
twirlinSuch hair twirlin’ does not offend.
tsukasaShe is 100% kawaii!

There are some assurities as I see it with Lucky Star, basically summed up in the above caps, but specifically…

  • Tsukasa is the essence of innocent(X)kawaii; possibly defining the tautology twinscale imouto => awesomeness.
  • I will always question what Izumi-to-san is thinking.
  • Kuroi-sensei is the kind of teacher we all wish existed.
  • Kagami has uber potential.
  • Konata has gracefully mastered the art of undermining.
  • New characters are okay, but this isn’t Sukuran.

Also, I think KyoAni picked their color schemes based on 1980s dancewear fashion styles (possibly Olivia Newton-John’s music video “Physical”) [or the Furbie-Barbie crossbreed that was in the making but never released due to market fears of the possible psychological harm such a creature would cause to Ages 3-5].

And so it continues. Now I must scurry to class.

The subtle stuff in Lucky star is quite cool but it doesn’t beat the easter eggs found in Hayate

  2. aloedream says:

I want to agree, but I’ve yet to resume Hayate. I do find it such an enjoyable watch though, perhaps more than Lucky Star.

  3. Lelangir says:

Well this is really late..but..yeah, I definitely agree. That’s basically why I love Lucky Star so much. Who cares about what the hell it’s “really about” - I just love all those small details, the brief but extremely aesthetic and complementary noises and grunts they make (beginning of ep. 16 = win), and so forth and so on.

Little moments of pleasure, not plot is fine too ^^
