Lagann wasn’t part of my top array of priorities, nor was it even a “choice pick”, but I snatched it on buzz and its well worth the experience.I’m only through episode 10, but it is a defining portion of the series. There are a few major points/events made within 2-3 episodes, which are yielding a more gripping story than pure action and service.
First there is Yoko’s serious feelings about Kamina, which disrupts Simon’s conscious hard-core. Second, we have a strong battle resulting in a fallen hero; this alone drives Yoko and Simon to new emotional heights. So the main characters go em0 over Kamina right? Slightly. While the depressing mood begins to set in, a shining light arrives to brighting everything with flowers and gumdrops [and other glittery things]. Nia sparkles with cuteness and good-temperment, but she seems so out of place among Yoko and Simon who are torn.

I was pleased with these events, and I feel a similar vibe to Eureka Seven. I’m geared up to see how it plays out with the Helix King, sparkle-magnet NiaXSimon, etc, but Lagann’s priority isn’t moving up my list. It’s a solid series at the moment, but I don’t foresee it becoming more than a ton-o-fun.
