Computers FTW! I woke this morning and realized I shouldn’t be running my two desktops all night. That’s why there are two, one’s a *nix server. Anyway, this is meaningless except for the extreme urgent business I had with my system and the drives…
Both of these systems serve torrents, basically, 24/7, and while I don’t really have much upstream, I like to continually seed to about 10+ ratio then bandwidth limit or remove the torrents (takes about 2 days with 8 torrents running).
So why can’t the server do it alone? It can, but I’m ridiculous and need discipline… or more hard drives ^^
Anyway, I relocated all the stuff I continually would like to be seeding at this time: Fall 2006, Winter 2007, and Spring 2007 series. Organization! I realized when removing finished stuff from the download directory to season folders that Seasons Are Large! Yup. An example, The Fall 2006 directory is about 72GB and.. that sucks.
I feel I’m going to make it priority and not allow any given season more than 50GB, its too much of a toll. I don’t care that I’m not running out of space or w/e, but do I really need that much anime? Fall is an exception because I’ve watched uh ALL of it in that directory (except for Death Note). Anyway I can’t answer such an existential question (even though it isn’t really existential).
Right, limit seasonal drive residence. Check.
Note: Having a *nix server at the front of my home network allowing traffic shaping, packet prioritization, port forwarding, and everything else is grand. Its really great to know that I only “need” one computer running 24/7 rather than 2-3, in previous days. I built the firewall script and it handles everything, I highly suggest a server setup!

That reminds me, I need to rebuild my server. I rm’d the wrong folder with out paying attention to where I was
I’ve been in spain for two weeks, leaving 1 of my comps on all the time
Usually I watch what I download directly, now I got like 4 series to see >,
Hehe, RSS+torrent is very sweet. All the downloads start to consume a ton of free time when its automatic downloads, and the subbers are on the ball… buts its usually worth it. ^^
