Akari ^^

Another weekend is here, and I’m so glad. I wish I set aside more time to blog, but for now my creativity is lacking or spent in other areas. Okay, right, I’ve checked out most if not all of my Spring starter pack from the last post, and its a good season, but the priorities are changing a bit.

The list is in order of greatest priority/most urgent to keep up with, or basically, if I was only able to watch a couple things a week, the tops would be it for the season. Banger, glad I can keep up with these, as well as the remaining subs coming out for Fall and Winter (I think many of us are pushing on). Perhaps I’ll list up the overall season priorities; excludes random catchups of seasons past (ie. I’ve been trying to finish Tsubasa’s first season for months, for absolutely no reason).

Blog, anyway, there’s a nice mix of viewing habits this season. Most of the list was viewed raw, but also popped some subs when available. Hopefully the list reflects a solid idea of the show, though I didn’t watch 2eps for each. Bongos!

The rundown…

Spring 2007 Priorities

  • Darker Than Black
  • Lucky ☆ Star
  • iDOL Master Xenoglossia
  • sola
  • Hayate no Gotoku
  • Bokura no
  • Lovely Complex (undecided)
  • Nagasarete Airantou
  • Touka Gettan
  • Seto no Hanayome
  • Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica
  • Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo
  • Shining Tears X Wind

Darker Than Black and Lucky ☆ Star, whoooo, tops the list. I had to set the levels even with these two, DtB is somewhat typical, but I felt its intro ep was very good. The ideas brought across and the initial setup of plot, conflict, and characters was finely intriguing. Animation felt solid as well; as for the contractor powers they weren’t overused, and it doesn’t feel there will be power-up battles etc.

Lucky ☆ Star is special for a couple reasons. I don’t care where its going or if its funny, I sorta wish to take the ride for the hell. The OP causes drug-like addictions, but even after that the characters are a fun bunch. I couldn’t begin to see this series as anything more than character interactions (zero.zero plot), and that sort of ordeal is interesting. Tis true I was skeptical after I read it didn’t have a strong comedic start, but after about 5-6 watches I feel its enjoyable. Jokes? Where? It wasn’t the jokes, because there were hardly any, its those bogus skits. Anyway, theres more here, but I’ll keep it at that.

Idol Master Xenoglossia, already went into this on the last post, but I’ve yet to find a decent quality raw of 2nd episode, so I am unable to write more. Of all the series listed, this one is probably my most overrated (should appear lower); I’ll say that.

Kissa-B, hehe, how the hell is my priority for Hayate no Gotoku and sola, in the third slot, mmm well I’ve played them down; I’d have thought higher. I enjoyed the first eps, but there aren’t any “sparkles” truly drawing me to the atmosphere. My opinion is HnG > sola considering characters (thank you Kugimiya Rie). sola’s plot isn’t anything unusual from the setup, but I get the feeling of the same style plot as Zero no Tsukaima from Hayate no Gotoku, so if sola can get a genuine vibe from the plot and not overly dramatic, I think I’ll become more “glued”. Bah.

Now, I know that Bokurano is going to be a strong series, and I did get a few heart jumps watching the first ep, but the seriousness seems like it will get intense. 14 middle-schoolers and a 4th grader, ya that’s just teeming with emotional potential. This one is possibly on the wrong priority level, but a.t.m. I’m just not in a “emotionally charged” state; I don’t want to confront a lot of emotion any time in the next few weeks. So Bokurano gets the under-prioritiezed spot.

Naaaa Naaaa, naaa, Nagasarete Airantou. “She’s got a flat chest.” That was funny, okay. The downer here is the harem genre, thats all. The feel is very fun like the first time I ever played Super Mario Bros 3. And the strange plants and animals have that 1980s Nintento © thing going on. I just want to put on my raccoon suit and tail-pop the tele. Fun!

I thought these would have given me a better impression, but really they were okie. Seto no Hanayome was good, but I just wasn’t very interested, its a mystery. I found Touka Gettan very interesting and I enjoyed the slight darkness, but I don’t believe it will remain so. Something bogus will get the plot out of whack somewhere, may be not though. Anyway, its mystical and has kinda sexy characters, but ohhh well.

The others are really not of much priority. Polyphonica has hawt character design, but come on, what the devil is it with the circle change-up transform. I kinda like the series, and of these last three its on top, but not that high of priority. Kona Aozora bla bla bla and Shinging Tears are a bit too much for me at the time. Not dropped but on the veeerrge.

Okay, well I hope all the coming weeks give everyone eying the season a thrill. Gonna be fun!
