Jeeze, this seemed like an off week for me. Aside from anime, the weather was terrible until yesterday. I just felt like doing absolutely zero; not even watching anime *sigh*. I did however gander a few episodes throughout the week and that is always relaxing. My big 3 series of the week had to have been Negima!?, Kyoshiro Towa no Sora, and CODE GEASS.
Mahora released a batch of awaited Negima!? eps, which is always fun. I’m finally rounding out my favorites of the 31 students (based on reading manga, and some of this series), and it was good to see some Yue focus, so good. Yue is an adorable starling, and at first glance she gives off that indifferent stare, but she has a great character with funny quirks, as seen in the recent episodes (and early on in the manga).
There was also a small, strange, space bonanza in one episode (13) where Kuu Fei was piloting a ship! Kuu Fei has spunk, and I love her animated spaceship captain poses. Her and Kaede have been in my almost favorite slots, but the recent episodes gave them some higher ground with me. It’s not that there is much special about them, aside from being martial artists, a bit off, but always on, and slightly strange, yet really nice, though they are fun to. Kuu especially is nearly unpredictable, which in my world equals fun screen time. Anyway, I guess the point to mentioning Negima!? is that it was uplifting in spite of my exhausted self. The current, unordered, top 5: Konoka, Yue, Kaede, Kuu Fei, Asuna. (That’s nearly the B.R. squad lol).
On to the yuri faction of Kyoshiro Towa no Sora! I wouldn’t say it is better or worse than Kannazuki no Miko, but the personality of the main character is more appealing than Himeko was in Kannaduki. I feel that it is easy to take the perspective of Kuu; not because she narrates in that crazy fashion, but because she seems more normal, and not as distant as Himeko. The yuriness is great, don’t know why, but these scenes are quite spectacular/pretty. Cute “Angels” and a relaxing mood. There were some freaky scenes, and I expect it to get darker, but overall it is nearing romance.
Lastly, CODE GEASS. I think this series is getting a ton of attention for many reason, and the recent episodes give good reason. The plot doesn’t get any less complicated; it stays strong, introduces more complexities, twists and perdicaments, but keeps up the enjoyment. I feel C.C.’s attire picked up good and bad impressions, but I liked it, even though I didn’t quite get the reasoning behind it. She’s funny, my number 1 Geass girl from the beginning.
I have some other feelings on Mao. Truthfully, I wonder how he’ll tie into the overall plot; I’m assuming there is a strong tie, otherwise that would detract from the good story Geass has going. If I look at the position Lelouche is in, after the Shirely incident, there isn’t much happening. Now is a good time to further the viewer’s knowledge of the one called シーツー. She’s special, so I’m hopeful to learn more of her being.
Good week, one last thing would be Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpacho; great action. I liked the opening episode, but I think numero uno for January07 premiers will stay Nodame Cantabile.
