First, I would like to say… its hard to wait a week for the next episode, but necessary. I’m soo rewatching this! Anyway, Kanon steps it up a notch with the plotline and Yuuichi’s persona in episode 05. If I haven’t said it, Yuuichi is one of the luckiest characters evar! It doesn’t matter that the town is full of mysterious girls, because they make life interesting. The basic story is still elusive, but we see some development from Yuuichi’s interactions with Mai, and the time for reavealing good details seems almost perfect.

awesomeI’m thinking I need to go fanboy and have a Kanon girl power-rankings, but perhaps at the end of this. Nonetheless, who earns brownie points? Number 1, Makoto, the greatest girl that is almost like a pet. The bathroom scene was halarious; Yuuichi has some good lines, but Makoto’s WTF stare ‘rocks me senseless’. Poor thing though, she is so easily tricked and persuaded. Her ratio of anger:gullability is nearly 1 to 1, cuteness level-up! Next on my list is Akiko, one word ‘goddess’. She is like the ultimate mother-figure, that I wouldn’t want to be my ‘real’ mother. (there’s a term for that btw….) These two were the winner for me, but Mai, Sayuri, and Shiori are somewhere around 3rd in the ‘points-earned’. Suprisingly, Ayu and Naiyuki make very little screentime, and Kaori is basically non-existent (she gets a point for being absent). One thing that does concern me is Naiyuki’s sleeping habits, which basically is 24/7 minus the moments of physical activity (wth).

calmed with food :3 nyaaNow, I have a question about the ‘adult shopping’ Yuuichi sent Makoto on. Was this really part of the game? It’s brilliant! I thought that Yuuichi would have accompanied her on the shopping spree, but that would have been too typical for pleasure. Instead, Yuuichi has to make his rounds with the girls throughout the episode, visiting Mai and Makoto (if I consider Makoto’s barging into the room a visit) most often. The quality visit though had to have been with Shiroi, sickly girl of the year. Hey, she actually seems to like Yuuichi, and even though she has that weak-girl image, she’s quite the aggressor, though that may not be the best word to use.

lolThe key to this episode, relative to the plot, had to be Mai. Even though she’s 95% mute, her words and actions are direct. “Be good to [Makoto]“, something very special going on here. Mai is a demon hunter, which means, to me, she’s either crazy or there are demons out to get the little lolis. I’m guessing this is important to the plot, but if this is a subplot of a more grand plot, then hmm, there will be almost too much fantastical events happening. I suppose I’ll just have to wait *is content*.

Kyon’ichi is my idol. I’m a pretty sarcastic guy myself, but I bow at how seamlessly he integrates sarcasm into his dialogue and makes it work to his favour.
As for the girls, Makoto is quickly becoming my favourite of the bunch, Ayu closely behind and Shiori finishing the top 3.

He’s got nothing on me yo. I own yuiichi in sarcasm IRL…except i dont go as far as calling girls my bride, he’s got me there. I usually have my sarcasm cap on 24/7 though. Okay maybe he owns me cuz he’s an anime character and can say/do whatever he wants with literally no repercussions…….sigh i give up nevermind. I’ll admit this episode has some good humor, but i still dont think the series as a whole has much to offer besides 10000 girls being macked on by yuiichi.

Retsgip, yea that’s pretty true, but its enjoyable to watch; quite peaceful too, in some respects.
While making my rounds around all the blogs on Kanon, hinano happens to include a cg pic, which, you know, makes her look rdy4sex. I eagerly await the anime parallel to it.
