君のいる町: Town Where You Live

This manga feels like a dawning true tears, where we have the combo-chara Yuzuki taking a place similar to both Noe and Hiromi … unpossibly so? Of course yes.

knim

Simple Premise: Tight-wad Haruto has to cope with a lovely bijin, Eba Yuzuki, who comes to live with Haruto’s family and attend the local high-school in the countryside. Poor him *eyeroll* Coincidentally, Haruto only sees this stranger as a nuisance, for his eyes are set on the other lovely bijin, Hanzaki Nanami. Unfortunately or not, Hanzaki finds out that Eba will be living with Haruto upon meeting Eba the first day she arrives. Soon it’s no secret that Haruto and Tokyo-girl Eba Yuzuki are, yes, OMG, “living together”…. with Haruto’s parents, so it’s no big deal…. or is it?

No, I lied, it’s a HUGE DEAL, or at least numb nuts Haruto makes it out to be. You can tell I find this male lead to be a ‘tard.

From the start I didn’t expect any sort of triangular relations. The workings up to it were quite subtle, and it seemed like the Yuzuki X Haruto was a weak draw, and though I’m just arriving, I’ve already seen the complaints…

To me its feels like I’m watching a damn soap opera… hope it doesn’t go in that direction, but you never know now.

Hence me correlating this title to true tears. There is serious dramatic potential, layered atop country-side ecchi light-love dotted with random laughable moments. What more could I ask for seriously?

More onsen Ryan …

more onsen

Moving on

Eba Yuzuki

Eba Yuzuki, she’s my new affliction (her and Yomi). Yuzuki is a damn weirdo and really doesn’t give a good impression of a “Tokyo-girl” coming to live in the country. She’s often a lot like Finding Nemo’s Nemo, minus the lucky fin; a slight bit of confidence X keenness + naivety and a ton of CUTE.

Eba Yuzuki

I’m hoping the Noe-ness is apparent by now, but how is she a half-Hiromi too? Though she is living with Haruto, that’s not quite what I saw. It was her reluctance, the sometimes playful flirting, and the sense that she doesn’t truly reveal herself off-the-bat. In a way..

You can sense her struggle between optimism and defeat…

and it’s drawing
Hanzaki Nanami

Hanzaki Nanami, she’s okay. Truthfully there isn’t much of her fleshed (metaphorically, plenty of flesh at the onsen) into the pages. Her personality is open, and I’m glad she isn’t the terribly reserved girl. She’ll likely get the tear-factor, and a ton of development past the first volume. Another kicker, Nanami is Hiromi-esque as well. Oh-MFG yes, TWO HIROMI!

This is girl is very much in the style actually; her momentum stems from knowning Haruto much longer than Yuzuki, but she has even more of those Hiromi tendencies… hidden personality, etc. You think all is well, but it’s not good to assume, because their shifty … very shifty.

As good as her and Yuzuki kicked it off, there’s going to be a LOVE WAR as things get rolling. Damn shame.

Hanzaki Nanami

Riiiight…

So, there are other characters, but it’s all about these two as the story eases in. Count me in for Town Where You Live…. kuuuu ku ku ku ku ~ two Hiromi.

Wewt! This looks like an interesting one… although bad male leads suck the big one. I really enjoy it when they make the male lead a little less dumbass.

    MORE ONSEN!

  2. aurabolt says:

… Is this Suzuka 2 or something? o_O

  3. Ryan A says:

@aurabolt, it is, but without the sports and shounen. Supposedly it’s a prequel or some shit… I think that was a wrong translation though. The Suzuka tie doesn’t bother me since I didn’t finish the anime nor read the manga.

@mellow_bunny, actually the male isn’t that bad, he’s just got forks up his ass or something …. anyway, MORE ONSEN!

  4. aurabolt says:

That previous comment was a joke actually.

I’m just surprised that the mangaka has the guts to reuse character designs for three straight titles. A short-haired (main) girl, and a long-haired girl hopelessly trying to score with the protagonist (like Yoshida Kazumi).

Good luck on rooting for Yuzuki. For the record, the mangaka has always favored the short-haired lead. *sniff* Poor Honoka.

Suzuka anime was decent if you ignore the art. The manga is another story. They continues after where it should have ended, and then… destroys itself.

  5. Ryan A says:

ohlol. Yea, it’s like he’s using actors D: DESTROY! well, I’m not really a “root for so-and-so” especially when the male protagonist is basically unworthy. Rather, I like to see how the characters play out, why they may be a bit unique, and if I can wrap myself around the final turnout.

.. a voyage of simple dramatic pleasures, with bishi’s accompanying the way. God that makes me feel shallow, but I’m okay with that.
