Mascots: “Do you like our owl?”

Posted by - November 10, 08

There were a few posts on the issue of mascots in recent weeks. For one, mellow_bunny alerted the sphere of Octo-sama, then THAT came storming in with comment poll on “what should THAT’s mascot be?”, and blissmo referenced in with a brief green haired loli comic. Quite amusing, so I’ll just throw this one out there…

Do you like our owl?

Owl

So where’s the owl mascot?

Owls can be expressed as cute, vicious, or knowledgeable (here’s a cute one). Sadly, I can’t say the owl fits on aloedream, so I must pass this one along. Also, it’s a shame I didn’t 2D-ify an owl version, but I’m not one who can draw from scratch efficiently.

Note: “Do you like our owl?” is a quote from Blade Runner. This idea actually came to me while I was on a flight over the weekend, and listening to Vangelis’ Blade Runner OST, which opens with some glimmering sounds and a simple excerpt, “Do you like our owl?”

I support your owl. Owls are birds of prey – raptors so to speak.

  2. blissmo says:

    IT’S SO CUUUUUTE!!!

But I shall resist the urge to drown it /kidding!!

  3. Ryan A says:

@Baka-Raptor, raar this is true… I believe they are suspect for killing many a young bunny and neko.

@blissmo, owls like puddles. I once saw two babies bathing together in a puddle, while their mama had the lookout on the tree in my yard. They looks like little feather-balls at some point… I guess it’s like baby fat. hehe

OWLS OF GLORY. You could totally name a platoon the Owls of Glory. Indeed a mascot can at times be superfluous but it can also be a handy tool for friendlifying things..

  5. Michael says:

    I’m scared of that owl.

  6. Ryan A says:

    @mellow, that’s a pretty sweet name

@Michael, it’s okay, it is a bird of prey
