Do the Year-End

Posted by - November 1, 08

That’s right. Contrary to my lack of specifically blogging on anime topics, there is one regard I like to endear, that is the Year-End posts. It’s November now…

Kureha

In roughly 60 days the otakusphere will see a fluttering of wrap-up and reviews about 2008, it’s quite amazing because the perspectives are very entertaining. I wonder if Lawson will do his countdown as usual.

My own contributed year-end posts have shown the past two years of blogging, but there’s a bit more that comes at the end of the year, marathons. Yes, December is nearly an entire month of vacation for me, and I like to explode in a fit of marathos throughout the month, but there is a maximum.

This year, the marathon list is looking rather plump. I’m a bit scared for my time and health, but no worries, because what matters most is a concise perspective of what I feel the best series were (and why), so basically not every series is a competitor for the top-slots.

Personally, marathoning is a fun treat, and though there will be little marathoned content appearing on aloe, dream, my reflection pool will be thoroughly stocked.

I’m seeing a lot more blogs in my aggregator these days, and I’m just wondering, which blogs will do annual perspectives, or if others do this sort of marathoning for the year close? Generally, I think some cross-talk on the group blogs would be entertaining. Anyway…

Cheers towards the closing months of 2008.

Never thought of an annual perspective, although I don’t know how much anime I could put into that. I’ve pretty much had to put the other series I want to watch on hold until December. T-T I might try to marathon an old anime show while I’m home though. If I don’t fall asleep first cause I’m old now. :P

Caitlin, srsly you can’t be old, we’re likely the same age if you’re old, but I know I’m not always right, so yea. ^_^

Well, I’m sure you get what it is, but the annual perspective is nice for various reasons, personal and blog related. The marathoning is pure awesome though, because it has such a large impact… take Towards the Terra for instance. Anyway, it’d be nice to see what you think of the year :)

I can’t marathon anime. I’ll get a headache. But I can watch the tv for hours.

  4. Ryan A says:

blissmo, Awawawwhy? Though, not all anime are good marathon candidates, but things like Noein, E7, Xam’d definitely are.

  5. blissmo says:

Well, I did watch five episode of Xam’d in one day :P

I’m almost 25. *gasp* *shock* *sob* Of course, hanging out with little 6 year old kids all day really makes you feel old - because they tell you frequently. Or express shock that you can still run pretty darn fast without your walker. Okay, that one’s an exaggeration but sometimes I need to go hang out at a retirement home to feel young again. T-T

Caitlin, I’ll be 26 in the coming Spring. ^^Though, I often get yelled at because I tend to play with my 6-10 year old cousins, while not being an authoritative figure. Kids make me feel old, but I think its going to be worse when they have more wits… just never stop learning and being active, the way of the child.

My time this year end is going to be full of coding @_@! Taiga + mSPACE 09. (which coincidentally will be used by THAT from February 1st.. the theme that is) I’m heading out to the beach for a bit of that.

  9. Ryan A says:

mellow bunny! awesome score. Yes, Taiga is totally going to be in the mix as well. It’s likely I won’t chain-marathon, but every other day or something… lack of sleep will dawn :)

  10. Michael says:

I usually don’t have year-end posts, seeing as I follow not that much anime, but we’ll see what happens this time. To be honest, I think the most powerful anime this previous year was Code Geass: it’s left quite an impression on me.

    Also, ToraDora is great.

  11. Ryan A says:

IT IS <3 I think if you watch 25 or more series in a given year that’s plenty for a perspective.
