mellow, well the one thing I do recommend is to at least change the fonts. For some reason these cheap-o ones are quite appealing. I first noticed the font on qt4 skype interface, and recent on OpenSolaris snv_99.

I gave up on trying to make my theme pretty xD! Yours looks good though Ryan the font works well. I just stick with the default on my Vista Lappy, the iMac has the default Leopard theme and my VMware Ubuntu uses the default (need to upgrade to 8.10). The one thing I have done on my XP machines is to switch to just the Win 2000 theme... I never liked the XP themes :/

@Kairu, well it's just like selecting Appearance or Theme in the Windows Control Panel. Though, if you don't have the OS running in front of you then the little instructions I gave mean very little (requires a bit of context).

@blissmo... oh u <3. Compared to Windows, Gnome desktop enhancements are much simpler. Windows is like a freaking maze.

@Kairu, it's all in the Compiz, which has come a very long way in terms of hardware spread. DM has a better video of the main plugins; Group Tab is possibly one of my favorites, because it's actually handy. It really doesn't take much, just browse art.gnome.org pick some stuff, and install via System->Preferences->Appearance. ^^ cheers

@nekosasu, I'm the 2-3-4 combo, but 2 is kinda so-so because Ubuntu is pretty mainstream imo, it's getting to be the firefox to many ppl's ie.

@blissmo, like I said, it's really not that difficult, especially if you just download and burn the cd, then play around with it.

I've been using XP since... ever, lol (screw Vista!). I really never felt the need to test anything else, especially not Linux (I have to admit that Knoppix almost got me a couple of years ago.)

I think I'm not mistaken when I claim that almost everyone in the otakusphere started out with Windows because we were all born in this huge M$ monopoly! But it has never behaved badly yet, so why change if everything runs well? ;)
I believe there are several groups with their own reasons to try out/switch to Linux: 1. butthurt Windows/Mac-users, 2. people who don't like Main$tream shit, 3. *NIX coders and 4. curious/bored people.

I belong to the last group. Yesterday I downloaded that Ubuntu 8.1, just for the kicks... So bored ~.~

On-topic: desktop looks good ^^ *goes back to sleeping*
