舞-HiME no Joke

I’ve had waffles and coffee 3 times this week, hrrm, I must be depressed. Nah, blue-corn waffles with some freshly ground Ethiopian beans is yummy! Though, if I was depressed, picking into the reserve of anime I have not experienced has been a great way to delight my atmosphere. I told myself last year while I was in Maine that I wanted to watch Mai-HiME, and since then, I haven’t even glanced over it. Because of this, I entirely disregarded Mai-otome as well. So last night I decided to pop Mai-HiME into the player and get on with it.

Perhaps it was the bottle of Chouffe Houblon Dobbelen IPA Tripel that I was finishing, but Mai-HiME is a total WTFx2 scenario for me, yet its amazingly fun. The main points of the show have to be fanservice (1), action (2), and elemental WTF lurking around every corner (3). Seriously, if the HiME’s were boys, it wouldn’t be enjoyable; did I enjoy the service? It goes without saying, but some of this strange business with wolf-robots and a huge dragon thing that entirely annihilated half a mountain just to get rid of a giant creature that looked like a spider then changed into a two-legged lizard, I better quit before I have a seizure.

yea

I do like it, and I’m hoping to finish it before the week’s end (Sunday). I wouldn’t say this is revolution or special, and not much to dwell upon, but because of enjoyment I can see me rating this around 8/10, though my ratings are relative and change often anyway.

My-Hime’s definately one of the better anime in the last couple of years, just make sure to stick around till the end where things get insane/awesome. And don’t touch my-otome at all. Terribly shitty anime.

  2. aloedream says:

I’m already about halfway through. There are some episodes that are so-so, but it’s interesting thus far. The story development is not the strongest, but it’s a good mix. I’ll definitely finish this out.

    So don’t touch Otome eh? Well, I will take that into consideration; I don’t have it to watch at the moment anyway. I have a feeling some anime fans would really want to punch me if they knew some of the recent stuff I haven’t watched. Stuff like Shana or the Rozen Maidens, even the SACs, which GitS is one of the reasons I watch anime anyway, ^^;

  3. Demian says:

Eh it doesn’t really matter. I didn’t watch Shana until it was over for a year and I was just really bored. Still glad I did though. Pretty solid stuff. What I’ve seen of SACS is pretty good but I could never really get into it. Probably because I was watching it on tv and missed a couple episodes ;). And when that happens your basically screwed on knowing what’s happening.

  4. aloedream says:

eee, I understand. I thought I’d be more into SAC because I mustve watched the movie 4-5 times when I first saw it, but alas :(
Alright, I’m definitely through half of Hime, the action plot is getting better for sure. I dont think I’ll be doing a follow up post though.
Thanks for the input Demian ^^

  5. Danny says:

gearing yourself up for mai otome or still not going to watch it? Then there’s the ova next month…

  6. Retsgip says:

Mai-Hime makes me cry like a baby. Mai-Otome is a little too much for me; not as cool as Hime imo.

Hopefully the new season does a better job than both.

  7. aloedream says:

Shit is serious business. perhaps I’ll do a recovery post, for the week in general.

  8. Tsubaki says:

My all time favorite anime. Despite the really annoying restart function at the end, this anime really really rocked my boat.

  9. aloedream says:

I liked the blend. Ultimately pleasing and fun. The texture is sweet in the end, and MaiHime will be a favorite of this type. I don’t mind bitter or heartbreaking endings though, often more partial to.
