I develop melative, it’s going alright. For a “general use” media catalog (not really the purpose), similar to AniDB and MAL, but for everything, it works quite nicely. Here is a recent shot.

If anyone at all reads this blog, they probably have seen the Reflections at the right, which are blurbs directed on media that I usually post through a Firefox extension (beacuse it’s fun). The new column at top is a WishStream, which is complicated, but generally a “segmented experience task list.” It’s like I have 40 episodes of Gintama to watch, so I just splash them all in Wishes, and can fulfill them as I go along.

Here’s the truth, these things work great, cataloging media experiences, reflecting on them, but I’m not sure of the “comodity.” What the hell is melative, aside from a multi-media catalog, organizer, list, tagger, bookmarker, all around resource for titles, etc?

I don’t know, but after using it for months now, the only thing I realize is the efficiency. Standard resources for instance:

Take a title from my experience, I can go to its main page, and when on the main page, I can click on the resources. These are links to Wikipedia, ANN, AniDB, AnimeNFO, Baka-Updates, MAL, IMDB, last.fm, rateyourmusic, songmeanings, and more. They are accumulated specifically for each media-title, and are in one location, one little section on a web page. Separately these sites have resource links of their own, but they are incomplete, why? Why doesn’t AniDB have wikipedia links or MAL links, and likewise for MAL?

Am I missing something?
