Freshness! Would it seem odd that I’d like to live in a place where winter is ACTUALLY winter? I live in FL, we don’t get snow. Kanon keeps up the good status with me this episode. We have more comedy, more Nayuchi, Uguu~ treasure hunt madness, a girl that skips school and a cliff hanger. Seriously, this was an eventful episode, and as usual, appealing animation.

still needs a shield; Nayuchi<3The first segment, I shall call it, mostly yields the screentime to UnknownXYuuichi and Nayuchi. No problem, but while Unknown who will be known as Makoto, was rather entertaining and wiley [and hungry], Nayuchi thoroughly impressed me. She kicks in the womanly kawaii mode with some memorable facial expressions; her interaction with KY made me smile. And where in the world did she pull that “yes, it’s okay sweetie” wink from? OMG *stunned* Nayuchi may very well have the top spot this episode.

Auuu~ hungrySo how about my Makoto impression? I enjoy her character, she has attributes the other girls do not; very wild, hungry, vengefull, curious, and a weird sort of playful. Her acrobatics and random motion makes for a fun atmosphere, plus she’s a slapper lol. I’m really looking forward to her mysterious story, because she’s an intriguing little girl creature. The episode really portrays her kawaiiness well; some of the small things: self photos, using Nayuchi to hide, looking the in closet yelling “Gohan”. Oh she is wonderful. Yuuichi and her have their sweet moments together also, but they seem more like siblings than anything, and NayuchiXYuuichi, who should seem like family, really don’t seem much like family to me (here’s where I ponder the luck of the character Yuuichi).

wtfSometimes the odd ones are impressionable; Shiori takes the ‘Sickly Girl of the Week’ prize! Mysteriously wandering about the school, staring into Yuuichi’s classroom; excuse the stalker tendencies and she’s brilliant quiet beauty. She can’t compete in the Nagato Yuki class, like Mai, but she is at a more sociable level, which is about triple A goodness. Shiori seems a tad more mature than the other girls, mostly due to her stature. I would place here maturity level about where Kaori is at, but Kaori seems to enjoy playing more. Speaking of Kaori, she wasn’t around much this epsode, so I’ll be glad to see her whenever she appears next.

don’t throw me away!Finally, Ayu! She exciting, but I’m not going to hype up her cuteness, because its standard already; she deserves to be on a postal stamp with ‘KAWAII 99%’ across the bottom. She’s fun, but I was really more interested the plot driving her character manages to squeeze in between the cowgirl rides Yuuichi scenes. What has she forgotten? and what happened to the cakie shop? poof, just like that huh? The plot thickens, and to add to the stew we have the extremely brief shot of a dark haired samurai girl in the hallway at school. Interesting, jeeze I wish episode 4 was here already. I predict myself stating around episode 12 that a rewatch of the completed Kanon is necessary.

I dunno why, but I can’t get into this anime. I prefer either more comedy or more relationship, but not this hardcore inbetween dance. The comedy isn’t super funny, but it’s there. The romance is kinda corny and not all that special, but it’s there. Although, I do like the characters, and thats the reason why I watch the show.
Cheers to the characters! Yea, its more drama than anything it seems. The fun part for me is seeing the characters interact in a pseudo-comedic-mysterious way. I am a lover of AIR, but I had issues with the confusion of that show, and this seems more clear cut which brings about more appeal.
Yea, I didn’t even think I’d write much about Kanon, or watch it for that matter, but after checking it out, I can’t force my body to not watch it. lol
You mentioned that “we don’t get snow” in Florida. Actually, it does though it
is rare. I also am a resident of Florida and it has snowed twice…one of those
times, it actually snowed in Miami. I suspect that you and most of your readers
weren’t born when this happened. Just a note from an “elderly” anime fan…

Not having any prior knowledge of Kanon, this show seems like there’s going to be a set up for some sad bits, from the feel of the show. It could be the air syndrome kicking in, but well… who knows.
