ABA, not Abba

The other day I read an Impz post regarding the AnimeBlogAwards, and I have to say I agree with his answer arguments, but I would like to state my case. I heard and read a bunch of hubbub about the event, but I took Bogart’s words in the short, “Frankly my dear, I just don’t give a damn.” I had nothing against it, merely indifference.
So one eve I was hanging out in #animeblogger, and suddenly Impz was all over my shit with why I’m not participating, in a good way. Anyway, I hadn’t even been to the site, so I received the email like everyone else, and went to signup. Why? Well, it was Impz in particular, he had a somewhat excited aura at that moment and naturally I was interested.
I spent very little time there, made my suggestions, and that was it. Glancing over the categories, it wasn’t about me or this AloeDreamBlog, for I didn’t find it fitting any of the cats [in respect to anime or manga]. My visit was about the blogs I read as a blogger, and that is a crucial point, because it seems there is better mutuality among the anime bloggers now than there was when I originally started (Autumn 2006). Are more bloggers reading blogs? I think so.
Perhaps there are more blogs to be read, more connections being made in IRC, whatever, but the community is always getting stronger. I feel the ABA doesn’t detract from this strengthening, but it doesn’t necessarily add vigor either because it is up to blogger and readers to see what lies in all those nominated sites. If this doesn’t happen, well, things proceed normally, but there isn’t any stimulation from the nominations.
My next post will concern this, and I will again be sharing my take on why, the ABA can do nothing wrong, but the community can do everything right, so what do I do?

ps. Impz wasn’t really “all over my shit” it was totally a casual suggestion.

Impz hit me up about it too… I found that it wasn’t too bad. Having a look through some of the nominations, I was able to find some blogs I’ve never read before that I really liked. XD

I actually had a few problems with the ABA too. I am signed up, but I have yet to put up my nominations. What troubled me the most was the lack of categories for a lot of the blogs I read. It also just seems like the winners will be those that have always been expected to. Eh, it’s community fun though, and I’m all for that.

Impz talked to me, too.
I didn’t give a damn for the most part, but when he stated the point that I won’t be doing anything wrong anyway, why not? So I joined.
