Imagine for a moment, a chalkboard. With the long edge of the chalk, you draw a wide line. Then, in the middle of this wide line, you draw another line, but this time with the sharp edge of the chalk. This difference is what separates the few from the many…. a concentrated connection so noticeable and striking that ignoring it; the entwine of characters, just isn’t possible. The senses flock in unknown directions, emotions bewilder the viewer, and the story leaps in time, Toward the Terra…

I’m enjoying this multi-marathon greatly, and I would have not expected this series to engage me as so, but the series is a fantastic representative of 2007; something to be remembered. I’m stunned, I stumble and I long for my grief to end; spectacular. The emotional disorder of marathoning Terra e… is quite overwhelming, I’ve even thought about not marathoning tomorrow so I can sit around and poke my feelings about it all… completely wonderful.

All characters, all emotions. Yes, I was completely blindsided by this, mainly because of such strong character development and connections, as others have stated. I believe this is partly in lieu of the story layout, which tends to jump time gaps seamlessly between episodes, but always in a forward manner. Because of this, the viewer follows many important characters over a wide span of time, leading eventually to the understanding of each person’s role or reason. Tying my experience into the characters was quite fluid, but left me in rubble after the intense episodes 21 & 22, which psgels states they’re quite close to the best and most emotionally charged episodes I’ve ever seen for the past year. Feeling this statement out, yes, I believe that emotionally charged part true for myself as well, and I love it. 21 and 22 are possibly the apex of emotion, but it spawns from as early as episode 5; onward is non-stop climactic progress.

Relatively, I thought this series would contrast Gurren Lagann, but I believe they are on different wavelengths. While, TTGL provides a sense of uplifting accomplishment, Terra e… is very much an an emotional and human message; live and love. One series I would bring to a close call with Terra is Eureka Seven, in which Terra feels similar to, but strikes deeper levels. I use an action comparison because Terra has abundance of action, but it is only part of the delivery, yet while I consider E7 shounen, Terra is not.

So basically, I’m wrecked from the full 24 episode run I dove into today. I can’t say anymore, but Toward the Terra has become a necessary anime of 2007. Great experience.
