Wow, I knew it when I finished Baccano! last night, but has a marathon ever given a fresh light to this world of anime? I was beginning to feel a bit static with the Autumn season habits. The series are awesome, but personally, my viewing habits, yuh. It’s like: Gundam 00, and Shana on Monday nights, Dragonaut on Fridays, Minami-ke on Thursdays, etc etc etc. Wait… that’s a schedule! Damn the schedule! This is probably a negative disposition to have, but schedules take my life away; I have trouble with them.
Mentioned last post, I am gearing up for a North American Autumn Vacation multi-marathon, but tsk tsk tsk, not so fast I say to myself. Before the marathon begins this Saturday, I must survive a hellish week of exams. So for the week, I will probably be turning away from hardcore seasonal viewing, instead I’m going to relish in the music of 2007. For reference, I am a music junkie. I do listen to Japanese music of course, but I only brush the surface (Luna Sea, L’arc en Ciel … Shugo Tokumaru, Supercar, くるり). I also love the massive evolution of the independent industry; stemming from Montreal to Athens, New York to Vancouver, Brussels to Tokyo. A wide variety comes into play, but one of the best encounters I’ve had this year is the Animal Collective release, Strawberry Jam (pitchfork had a good write-up on the complexity of this album). I’ll probably jam to it plenty while studying.
In the meantime, here’s my marathon list (no order):
- Claymore
- Darker than Black
- Shonen Onmyouji
- Kekkaishi
- Seto no Hanayome
- Hidamari Sketch
- Toward the Terra
- Ooedo Rocket
If there is anything noticeable about these it’s that I consider them all 2007 anime; by 1st) majority in 2007, 2nd) finished in 2007. I highly doubt I will make it through all these, I’ll even bet against myself, but I do have about a month of free time coming. Some will be pushed off to the side, because they won’t affect my views on 2007, but who knows. Also, there’s a couple unfinished blocks I need to get through: half of Nodame Cantabile and half of Gurren-Lagann; oh I’ve been saving that one. ^^ These may or may not be priority first because I am already sure of their quality and I’d rather build up to the best.
Well that’s that…

Good luck with the exams. I have them, too. >.>
Thankfully, yesterday, Dec 5th, were the most fearsome exams. At one point I felt physically exhausted during my tensor calculus exam; it was incredibly extensive. One more to go…
Thanks Michael ^^ luck to you too
